What is the CAFM® Credential?
The Certificate of Advanced Financial Modeling (CAFM®) program offers finance professionals with sophisticated tools in Excel for better decision making. The certificate enables the candidates to use programming languages and create financial programs. A much needed skill in the financial industry is to know how to use VBA® (Visual Basic Applications) in Ms Excel to create a fully revolving financial model embedded with dozens of constraints.
The program is structured in a way that will allow the candidate to earn advanced skills in financial modeling, valuation, portfolio management, and investments. The CAFM® certificate covers key areas in finance such as Valuation, certified advanced Financial Modeling, and Financial Programming.
The certificate is “hands on” applications and examination which means that the candidate will be equipped and trained how to use all the learned techniques in his/her professional life.

Candidate Eligibility Requirements
Candidates wishing to enroll in the CAFM® program should at least be at the junior level of their bachelor’s degree program.
Who Should Register?
The CAFM® program is designed to appeal to a wide range of candidates interested in developing and acquiring advanced financial and modeling software skills. It is suitable for professionals who need to strengthen and advance their modeling skills (i.e.: Consultants, Financial Controllers, Financial and Business Analysts, Portfolio Managers, CEOs, CFOs etc…), fresh college graduates and students who are seeking a prosperous career in finance. The certificate does not require any quantitative background other than what is covered in the core courses in a bachelor of business administration.
CAFM® Program
The program is structured to allow candidates who lack knowledge in financial modeling and valuation to progress to an advanced level. The program provides the necessary tools to build an advanced financial model for large corporations as well as for small privately owned firms. The latter is followed by a thorough illustration on how to enhance the candidate’s financial model using VBA® in investments, portfolio management, and valuation contexts.
CAFM ® Course Description
CAFM® Exam Format
The CAFM® exam is a four hour exam that consists of two parts. The first part of the exam is a 30 minutes written exam with short questions related to financial modeling. The second part is 210 minutes and is computer-based. Candidates will use their financial modeling skills acquired in class for the second part of the exam. The CAFM® exam will be administered by Schweser Institute for the registered candidates (please check www.schweserinstitute.com for the dates). The passing score is set by the CAFM® Board of Governors after each exam. Candidates will not be awarded a certificate from Schweser Institute unless they pass the exam successfully.

What is the CFSA Certificate?
The Certificate of Financial Statements Analysis (CFSA®) provides candidates with key skills to assess the viability of an enterprise. It integrates contemporary corporate financial reporting issues with financial analysis, interpretation, and performance evaluation using a case approach. It presents an in-depth discussion of factors affecting analysis of business organizations and business strategy concerns, measurement of items on financial statements, disclosures, standard setting issues, financial reporting internationally, financial reporting implications, and investment evaluation.

Who Should Register?
The CFSA® program is designed to appeal to a wide range of candidates interested in developing and acquiring advanced financial analysis skills. The program is beneficial to candidates seeking a prosperous career in different areas of finance (i.e., Consultants, Financial Controllers, Financial and Business Analysts, Financial Auditors, Portfolio Managers, CEOs, CFOs etc…) who need to strengthen and advance their financial analysis skills. The certificate does not require any advanced accounting or quantitative skills. Basic accounting concepts taught in a business bachelor degree provide a good starting base to build upon.
Prerequisites and Preparation:
Candidates wishing to enroll in the CFSA® should at least be in the junior level of a bachelor’s degree program.
Certificate Structure:
The CFSA® certificate is divided in two levels. The first level focuses on the assets section of the statement of financial position, their relation to other financial statements such as the income statement, and the cash flow statement. The second focuses on the liabilities and equity side followed by their effects on the previously mentioned financial statements. Each account on the statement of financial position will be addressed from several aspects including, accounting, analysis, and reporting under International Accounting Standards (IAS). The certificate will incorporate the IAS coverage of the major financial statements accounts that range from IAS 1 till IAS 41, excluding the withdrawn standards.
CFSA Learning Outcome
The CFSA® program primarily focuses on understanding and using financial information for decision making purposes. The topics covered strongly emphasize the ethical dilemmas faced by concerned parties (managers, board members, and the like) as well as the ethical standards that they need to maintain. The list below presents the major goals of the program as well as their ways of attainment:
- Business Professional Knowledge & Competence – After completing this certificate, candidates should be able to evaluate the quality of financial statements, analyze the financial information presented, and assess the value of business entities.
- Decision Making: Having completed this certificate, candidates should able to select, apply, and provide justification for the use of appropriate ratios and valuation methods used to generate inputs that are used for decision making purposes.
- Ethics – Candidates should be able to evaluate and distinguish the ethical dilemmas experience by the concerned parties. Furthermore, they are expected to propose, justify, and apply the selected ethical course of action.
CFSA® Exam Format
The CFSA® exam is a two-hour exam that has two parts and consists of two main types of questions. The first part contains forty multiple choice questions whereas the second part consists of two short case studies that cover reporting under IAS (International Accounting Standards) and financial statement analysis.
